The San Juan Outdoor School/Telluride Alpinism, in partnership with the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program, offers a variety of customized winter outdoor adventures for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities (family and friends encouraged to come along!). With the guidance of expert instructors and naturalists, participants in our programs gain an appreciation for the rich natural and cultural history of Telluride’s majestic San Juan Mountains.

Our backcountry ski excursions give skiers and snowboarders of all abilities the chance to experience the ultimate wilderness delight: untracked powder! Weather you are a first timer or an experienced backcountry enthusiast, our professional adaptive guides will thrill you with unspoiled San Juan powder. Let us introduce to you the sport of backcountry skiing or snowboarding. These tours provide you with the opportunity to learn the basics of backcountry travel including equipment use and terrain analysis. Specific adaptive ski and snowboard equipment can be rented from the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program.

Heli-Skiing
The Telluride Adaptive Sports Program and Helitrax offer one of trhe most unique partnerships in the ski industry! With the combined expertise of TASP's professional adaptive ski and snowboard instructors along with the exemplary safety record and tailored guest experiences of Helitrax, we can offer adaptive clients the heli-ski experience of a lifetime! With the vision to open the backcountry to individuals of all abilities, TASP and Helitrax will help you experience skiing or riding the highest elevations serviced by helicopter in North America on single-day or multi-day guided heli-skiing adventures.
