Over 100 volunteers contribute their time by being on the snow, helping out during the summer, in the office, or helping plan and facilitate special events and fundraisers. Volunteers are the heart, soul, and backbone of our organization and the key to success with the participants we serve — for that TASP is grateful as without volunteers our program would not exist!!
SO, HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED?!!?
We are always accepting new volunteers...
If you are interested in volunteering for the 2012 summer, please call the office at 970.728.2443 or email volcoord@tellurideadaptivesports.org so we can add you to our "interested" list! For the summer, we offer a number of sport specific trainings on how to best assist our clients, including whitewater rafting, flatwater canoeing/kayaking, rock climbing, and biking. We encourage all of our instructors to be First Aid and CPR certified and require this certification of all Lead summer instructors.
Please see the training schedule on the below calendar. Simply click on an event title to read more about the training. We ask that all Volunteers new to summer attend a summer orientation at the TASP office on Wed, May 16th at 4:30-5:30pm.
If you are looking at volunteering for the next ski season (12/13), please know that in general new volunteer instructors will be required to complete 3 full days of training (1/2 day indoor Office Orientation, 1/2 day indoor Disability Awareness, 1 on-snow day of Adaptive Alpine (or Snowboard) Intro, followed by 1 other full day (or two half day) clinics of your choosing). Returning volunteer instructors will be required to complete at least 1 day of on-snow training. Although we ask that all volunteers commit to a minimum of 6 lessons this season, there is no max to the number of hours that you can volunteer!
If you are interested in learning more about upcoming volunteer opportunities (summer or winter!), please call the office at 970.728.2443 or email volcoord@tellurideadaptivesports.org. Thank you all and we hope to see you soon!
We are looking forward to a GREAT season and volunteers are a HUGE part of what makes TASP possible!! Thank you...
