Volunteer photoOver 100 volunteers contribute their time by being on the snow, helping out during the summer, in the office, or helping plan and facilitate special events and fundraisers. Volunteers are the heart, soul, and backbone of our organization and the key to success with the participants we serve — for that TASP is grateful as without volunteers our program would not exist!!

Bring your time and talents to our family. Help us create a backbone of trust, loyalty, playfulness, and security — an environment where learning and independence can thrive. The program’s success depends on our strength in numbers. When you get involved, you help us offer students specialized one-on-one and small group interactions. You’ll create new, valuable friendships, and become an important link between our participants, their families, and the larger community.

SO, HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED?!!?

The summer is upon us and we are excited for our Summer Training Schedule!  Please call 970.728.2443 to sign up for any of the following trainings:

-Wed, May 26th: Meet at RIGS in Ridgway, CO at 12:00 for an afternoon of RIVER TRAINING. This training is required for any volunteer who has not taken a river training in the past 2 years or for those new summer volunteers who have not taken any water trainings thru TASP. There is no previous experience necessary. We will cover the basics of how you can help the commercial river guides for any rafting or kayaking trip as well as help out on canoe trips.

-Tues, June 1st: This Rock Climbing ROPES REFRESHER course is from 9am - 12pm and is only open to those individuals who went thru the full day rock climbing training during the summer of 2009. In order to assist with any of the rock climbs this summer, you must either take this course or the full day rock climing course listed below.

-Fri, June 11th: This ROCK CLIMBING TRAINING is from 9am - 3pm (please bring your own lunch) and is required for all instructors who wish to help on rock climbing trips this summer.  There is no previous rock climbing experience necessary. Please note that many of our instructors who assist with rock climbing are not rock climbers themselves, rather they come on the trips in order to help with group dynamics and site safety.

We will continue to post upcoming trainings on the below calendar as soon as we have them scheduled. If you are new to volunteering and have missed the trainings, please still let us know you are interested! As always, please stop by the office or give us a call at 970.728.2443 if you have any questions or want to sign up for trainings. Thank you all and we hope to see you soon!

We are looking forward to a GREAT season and volunteers are a HUGE part of what makes TASP possible!! Thank you...
